N4OFA is also known as Mike Wechsler. As an enthusiastic supporter (or should we say ‘fanatic supporter’ of the ham radio sport, Mike is very active in local groups providing inspiration and motivation in many directions. His passion is in VHF/UHF and microwave operations, particularly mountain-top contesting (aka Roving). Mike enjoys building equipment and sharing his passion for CW (that sweet music). In support of local municipal backup communications N4OFA is active with ARES, and has recently been helping to build up the digital messaging infrastructure. Listen for Mike on the FM repeaters in NorthEast Tennessee, and on 144.200 during most every VHF contest that comes along. BTW, he also does email and has a cell-phone… but it’s more fun to catch his stories live on the radio. /;^)
Oh yeah, he took that beautiful sunrise picture used in the website header.

What up old man? Was kickin round the web and ran across of all people YOU!!! Hope you’re doin OK, I’ve been “away” from the radio for way too long. Where is field day this year? I’m gonna have to get out and bang on a key again. Actually I was looking at the NorCal 40A kit as a way to get “fired up” again over ham radio. You still have yours? Do you think there’s a better little battery driven rig out there? I drifted from the radio over a big twin bike, the gun range, and now I’m into brewing, but the old days of homebrewing radio are still tuggin at my heart strings, so hope to hear from you….
Take care and 73…. or is it now 72???
